Ruth Lin is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has been providing counseling services since 1992 and is in private practice in association with Christian Counseling Centers, Inc. in Mountain View. She is very engaged in helping a non-profit organization, Chinese American Counseling Service, to promote the mental well-being of Chinese community. Her dedication to her folk people is to prevent their mental illness in early stage.
Ruth’s internship experiences were mainly providing counseling services to multicultural students and families in elementary, middle, high schools in Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and Milpitas school districts and Santa Clara University. She has facilitated a parenting group for 6 years, groups for children of divorced families, communication & social skills enhancement groups, and groups for survivors of childhood abuse. She brings in many tools, such as sand trays, play therapy and art therapy, to work with children.
Professional Specialties and Interests:
Ruth is specialized in couples counseling for a wide range of relationship issues including parenting concerns, managing anger, communication, depression, anxiety, in-law issues, infertility and handling many stressors of life transitions and day to day life. She uses Biblical guidance, PREPARE/ENRICH materials and John Gottman research-based approaches.
Ruth provides individuals counseling for a wide range of issues, such as low self-esteem, depression, childhood abuse, loss of meaning and satisfaction, desire for better relationships, issues with church and Christianity and concerns about loss, death, stress and anxiety.
Ruth has given workshops and trainings on couples’ issues, parenting, family of origin and grief in different churches and organizations.
Ruth is also a freelance writer for Chinese Christian periodicals and World Journal Newspaper of USA.
Ruth was born and raised in Taiwan. She is proficient in Mandarin, Taiwanese, English and understands Cantonese. |
