Born and raised in a Japanese-American Christian family within the Bay Area, I have enjoyed the rich diversity of cultural experiences offered in our communities. Throughout my clinical experience, I have been privileged to work with clients of diverse ethnic backgrounds, clinical issues and spiritual belief systems.
My current focus is on helping professionals to manage their stress, life goals, relationships and careers. With over ten years in the counseling field, I have helped individuals identify patterns and choices which are no longer working for them and develop strategies to create more satisfaction in their professional and personal lives. I counsel women and girls towards empowerment by becoming aware of their unique gifts and strengths, navigating relationships without losing their sense of self and setting effective boundaries in relationship. I assist individuals, couples and families to address acculturation gaps and cultural issues. I help couples to develop more effective communication and conflict resolution skills. I conduct premarital counseling for couples seeking to learn about covert expectations in relationship, family of origin influences, future goals, spirituality, personality profiles/temperaments and the relational areas of strength and vulnerability before saying “I do”. Other areas of emphasis include depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress, Christianity and issues with the church, adolescents, life transitions, self-esteem, divorce recovery issues, issues of abuse, domestic violence issues, co-dependency and substance abuse/addiction.
