The Rev. Dr. Anita Ostrom has been a licensed marriage and family therapist at the San Francisco office of Christian Counseling Centers since 2001. She sees primarily adult individuals and couples and specializes in the treatment of trauma, depression and anxiety disorders (obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress, and social anxiety). Other areas of treatment include life transitions, divorce and co-parenting, self-esteem, clarifying personal boundaries, grief and loss, domestic violence, verbal and physical abuse and molestation. Certified to offer premarital counseling using the nationally known Prepare/Enrich program, she also enjoys helping couples prepare for a rewarding marriage together.

Dr. Ostrom is trained in Levels I & II of Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing (www.emdr.com), which is a powerful tool for addressing and bringing to resolution the “big T” and “little t” traumas of life. She is also trained in Lifespan Integration (www.lifespanintegration.com) which enables and supports deep repair one's emerging and healing self

Dr. Ostrom’s background includes being Chaplain at Georgia Mental Health Institute in the Drug and Alcohol Unit and at Georgia Baptist (medical) Hospital, and a mental health assistant at Peachtree-Parkwood Mental Health Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Her education includes a Ph.D. in Pastoral Theology from Emory University in which she worked on integrating spiritual direction and psychotherapy for pastoral care and counseling, an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Holy Names University, and an M.Div. from Candler School of Theology. She has been an Elder in the United Methodist Church since 1983.
