John has been in Pastoral Ministry for over twenty-five years. He is currently the Senior Pastor of New Hope Community Church in South San Francisco. John enjoys assisting people in taking back control of their life. He works at assisting them to recognize the choices they have made that are currently no longer beneficial to their well-being, but work towards a process of change. Together they develop strategies whereby the individual(s) life can become more rewarding and productive. He assist couples, families, and individuals in resolving conflict, while establishing boundaries in order to effectively communicate. With his acute active listening skills, he is able to work with couples and individuals alike in premarital counseling—helping them to understand the many stages of marriage, the expectations of their relationship, some of their own personality traits, as well as their spirituality…all while trying to establish a sense of self for the individual.
John received his Bachelor of Art in English Literature with a Minor in Speech and Communications from San Francisco State University. He then went on to complete his Master of Divinity in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena. In addition, John holds an M.A. in Marriage and Family Counseling from Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, CA. John’s emphases are as follows:

- Working through the complexity of ethnicity and multi-cultural relationships
- Assisting individuals on issues of abuse and stress
- Helping individuals understand parental issues
- Pre-marriage Counseling
