Cate is a registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern practicing at Christian Counseling Centers' San Mateo office since 2006, and is trained in individual, couples, and family/child therapy. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from San Francisco State University and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology (summa cum laude) from Santa Clara University. Cate is also a licensed R.N., with 25 years of critical care nursing experience (including 14 years certified in emergency nursing) and with specialized training in Health Psychology as part of her master's program.
Cate brings a "whole person" perspective to counseling/therapy, examining all components of a client's life (i.e., emotional, mental, physical, relational, and spiritual) for the purpose of promoting insight, growth, healing, and health. As a Christian, she takes an "integrative" approach to treatment, combining biblical truth and principles with psychotherapeutic strategies and techniques appropriate for her client's needs, circumstances, and goals.
Areas of focus include: abuse, anger, anxiety, chronic illness, depression, divorce recovery, grief and loss, life transitions, pre-marital counseling, relationship conflicts, spiritual issues, stress management, and trauma.
Cate is a member of CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists) and AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors).
